As a volunteer firefighter with the Oldwick Fire Company, you will gain satisfaction by providing services to your family, friends, neighbors, and the community in time of need. You’ll be given the training and education to aid you in gaining First Responder Certification required by the State of New Jersey. The company will provide all firefighting equipment, uniforms and communications gear. The Oldwick Fire Company is always looking for new membership. Need somewhere to live?
The Oldwick Firehouse has the opportunity for it’s members to live at the firehouse in return for membership and firefighting duties.
Active Firefighter Requirements
The following are the minimum requirements to become an active firefighter:
- Minimum age of 18.
- Pass a physical examination.
- Pass a personal background check.
- Complete and pass Firefighter I course certified by The State of New Jersey.
- Reside or work within a response distance to Oldwick.
Junior Firefighters Membership Requirements
The following are the minimum requirements to become a Junior Firefighting Member:
- Minimum age of 16.
- Pass a physical examination.
- Pass a personal background check.
- Obtain written permission of parent or guardian.
- Reside or work within a response distance to Oldwick.
Fire Fighting Applicants can expect:
- Feeling proud of the service you have provided to your community.
- Training in firefighting tactics.
- Training in incident management.
- Responding to calls for fires, hazardous materials incidents, car
accidents, brush fires, medical assists, cellar pump-outs. - CPR Training.
- Monthly drilling and meetings.
- Taking time off from work to teach fire prevention.
- Interruptions to family dinners, birthday parties and holiday celebrations. Calls never come at convenient times.
- Being woken in the middle of the night to answer your neighbor’s call for help.
- Marching in parades in all kinds of weather.
